Google says Pixel prices are going up because memory has gotten dramatically more expensive — and for once, the company said so before the leaks forced its hand.
## Google's Hardware Chief Confirms Price 'Adjustments' Are Coming
Three weeks ahead of the Pixel 11's expected unveiling, Google's Vice President of Devices and Services, Shakil Barkat, told 9to5Google that the company is raising prices across its Pixel lineup. Barkat said memory costs have hit a level Google hasn't seen before, pointing to Morgan Stanley data showing the average price of a gigabyte of RAM rising from $2.80 in 2025 to roughly $12 in 2026.
Barkat said Google has "shielded our consumers from supply fluctuations for as long as possible," but that the "economics have fundamentally shifted and we're not immune to that." He described the coming changes as "adjustments" that "will be rolled out dynamically to match supply realities," affecting not just the unreleased Pixel 11 series but "in-market Pixel phones" — a phrase that, while unconfirmed, points toward the Pixel 10a, which is roughly halfway through its retail cycle.
